New heat network regulations are coming into force ⚠️

From 2025–2027, all communal and district heat networks will face statutory regulation under the Energy Act 2023 and the Heat Networks (Scotland) Act 2021.

Key requirements include:

  • Mandatory authorisation from Ofgem to operate a heat network

  • Compliance with consumer protection standards similar to gas & electricity

  • Minimum technical standards and accurate metering & billing

  • Zoning laws that may require mandatory connection to heat networks in designated areas

SOS Network is fully designed to meet and exceed these regulatory requirements, helping you stay ahead of compliance, reduce risk, and protect your residents. (Read full article)
